Plastics Pipes Conference XIII, Washington DC, USA

At the Plastics Pipes Conference XIII, Mike Troughton, along with Dr. J. Hessel and co-authors, presented a study comparing short- and long-term testing of faulty electrofusion joints in PE pipes to predict long-term performance.

From October 2 to 5, 2006, the Plastics Pipes Conference XIII was held in Washington, D.C., USA. During this conference, Mike Troughton (along with co-authors Dr. J. Hessel, Chris Brown, and Marco Piovano) gave a presentation titled "Comparsion of long-term and short-term tests for electrofusion joints in PE pipes" The presentation covered various standard and non-standard tests for electrofusion joints in PE pipes with different types of defects. The aim was to determine which tests could distinguish between standard joints with no intentional defects and joints with various types and degrees of defects (including particle contamination, unscraped pipe surfaces, and cold fusions). Additionally, the study investigated whether short-term tests could provide data indicative of long-term performance.
