Das Langzeitverhalten von Schweißverbindungen an Halbzeugen aus Polyethylen - Eine Frage der Kerbempfindlichkeit
In butt fusion welding of polyethylene, notch-insensitive materials such as PE 100-RC offer significant long-term advantages, as fractures tend to occur in the base material rather than at the weld interface.
In butt fusion welding following the DVS 2207-1 guideline for semi-finished polyethylene products, fractures in creep rupture tests do not occur at the weld interface but originate from the bead notch in the base material. Consequently, the long-term performance of these welded joints largely depends on the notch sensitivity of the base material. Notch-insensitive materials, such as PE 100-RC, therefore provide significant advantages in the durability of butt fusion welded joints.
